My original acrylic horse painting, featuring a powerful stallion, with arched neck and rippling muscles. While painting him, my first horse for a while, I was reminded of how much I love and adore painting horses.
Horses have been such a big part of my life for so long. Now that I no longer have guardianship of any horses. I feel ever more drawn to them as a subject.
I named him Rubin for his stunning deep red colour, and inspired by the memory. of Rubina, a thoroughbred mare that I looked after years ago. I.created the depth of colour by applying glaze after glaze of transparent colours to achieve the glossy coat. There are a few bright colours here and there in his mane - a touch of turquoise and pink, reflected light.
50 x 50 cm or 20 x 20 inches, this piece is on premium quality stretched canvas which has the sides painted . Ready to hang as is, or can be framed in a float frame if preferred.
