Forever in Flight - Original Barn Owl Oil Painting 80 x 100 cm / 30 x 40 "

This is the third artwork in my "Flight" series, featuring a stylized depiction of a Barn Owl flying high over a nocturnal landscape. To create this enigmatic piece I used brush and knife, intuitively creating the darkened landscape over which she soars.

This painting has a soft and gentle, calm and restful feeling about it. I was lucky enough this year to have the opportunity to meet Barn Owls and to have one perch on my wrist and fly to and fro. It was an incredible feeling, I hadn’t before appreciated how completely silent they are in flight, an owl could fly past your ear, brushing your face with her wingtips and you wouldn’t hear a thing. In this painting, I’m trying to capture this mysterious, silent passage, beneath the light of a softly radiant moon.
